International Youth Day
International Youth Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999, with the aim of drawing attention to the issues affecting young people around the world and raising awareness of the importance of their involvement in global development.
Young people face a range of complex challenges that shape their perspectives and opportunities for the future. Recognizing these challenges, the Government of the Azores acknowledges the importance of youth as agents of change for the future and is committed to investing in young people to promote sustainable social, cultural, and economic development.
It is a day to celebrate achievements, recognize challenges, and support the aspirations and future projects of young people, as well as the organizations that work for or with youth.
