Young Autonomy Contest

the young autonomy contest is intended to choose the best interpretation of the Azores anthem, played and sung, or in version to Cappella.

 

The program aims to sensitize young audiences and make it closer to the identity brands that characterize the Azorean being, namely, the symbols of regional autonomy, through the played and sung version of the Azores Anthem.

Contest Jovem Autonomia

This year, applications for the Young Autonomy Contest will take place during May and the winner will be revealed on the Autonomous Region Day of the Azores, celebrated on June 9.

 

The period of applications will be determined by annual order of the member of the competent Youth Regional Government, published in an official newspaper.

 

Applications can be submitted individually or in groups.

The official music of the Anthem of the Azores was composed by the philharmonic conductor Joaquim Lima having been, with the arrangement of maestro Teófilo Frazão, approved, in 1979, by the Regional Regulatory Decree No. 13/79/A, of May 18.

The lyrics were commissioned by the Regional Government to Natália Correia, considered by many to be the greatest Azorean poet of all time, having been approved, in 1980, by < i>Regional Regulatory Decree No. 49/80/A, of October 21st.

The Hym,which symbolizes the history, geography and culture of the Azores, was sung in public, for the first time, on June 27, 1984, by the students of Colégio de São Francisco Xavier, in Ponta Delgada.
