
Bento de Góis Program
Promotes the regional, national and international mobility of young people residing in the Azores, aged between 12 and 28, as a stimulating, enriching and structuring experience of the sense of Azorean identity and European citizenship.
The Program is divided into three types of actions:
1. National Mobility;
2. International Mobility;
3. Exchanges in the Azores
Applications can be submitted by:
- Associations registered in the Azorean Register of Youth Associations
- Informal youth groups;
- Individual young people over 18 years old;
- Basic, Secondary and Professional Education Establishments;
- Private non-profit associations that develop activities aimed at young people;
- Cooperatives that develop activities in the field of social support for young people;
- Other non-profit entities considered adequate to promote the actions foreseen in the Program.
Applications are submitted to the Regional Directorate for Youth at least 60 days before the start of the trip.
National Mobility
Action I of the Bento de Góis Program - National Mobility - supports youth mobility and tourism projects in the Azores, Madeira and the Portuguese mainland, in the sociocultural, recreational, artistic, sports, pedagogical and scientific areas, as well as participation in conferences, meetings , gatherings and other events in the area of youth dynamics.
Its main purpose is to enhance experiences of contact with new realities and cultures, contributing to personal enrichment and the development of new skills through non-formal education mechanisms.
Exchange in the Azores
Action II - Exchange in the Azores - dis intended to support projects that encourage close and solidary cooperation between young people in the Azores and provide knowledge of the richness inherent to the existing diversity in each one of the nine islands, and that integrate activities in the areas of sociocultural, recreational, artistic, pedagogical and scientific expression.
The projects Exchange agreements can be bilateral or multilateral and always imply the existence of at least 2 intervening goups, the displacement group and the host group.
The groups of travel and reception must submit separate application processes.
Activities must have a minimum duration of 4 days and a maximum duration of 8 days, including travel days.
International Mobility
Action III - International Mobility - is intended to:
- Projects taking place in countries with Azorean communities living abroad, which contribute to the dissemination of Azorean culture and identity and/or promote the approximation of young people residing in the Azores to young people in the diaspora through the exchange of experiences, habits and traditions;
- Mobility projects in the European Union, with a view to bringing young Azoreans closer to different cultures, habits and traditions, expanding worldviews and promoting European citizenship through activities in areas of sociocultural, recreational, artistic, pedagogical and scientific expression;
- International volunteering projects, promoted by entities recognized for their humanitarian action, which foster civic spirit of volunteering and youth participation in minimizing social and economic inequalities.
Activities must be a minimum of 5 days, including departure day.
